Sheps comeback keeps season alive

BOX SCORE

The Shepherd's heroic comeback keeps their season alive as they score nine runs in the final two innings to overcome the East LA Dodgers by the score of 13-10.

Pitching dominated early in the game as the first three innings were all scoreless with three total hits between the two teams with five strikeouts.

The Sheps got the scoring started as Drew Salyers hit a bases Loaded double to score three before Alex Laureano would hit a single to drive him in and give the Shepherds a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning.

The Dodgers retaliated in the bottom of the fifth in a similar way as they drove in three runs with a bases clearing triple before a single tied the game at four in the fifth. However, the Dodgers didn't stop there as another single would score another in the inning to give East LA a five run inning and the 5-4 lead.

The Dodgers would get some insurance runs in the seventh as back-to-back doubles would score their sixth run of the game. The runner from second would come around to score on a fielder's choice and extend the East LA lead to three.

The Dodgers weren’t done in the seventh as a three run home run would blow the game open and make it a 10-4 game.

Raul Soto Romero hit a double in the bottom of the eighth to score a run before a sacrifice fly scored another to cut the lead and to trail by four. However, The Shepherds were not done in the eighth as another sac fly and two more singles would score another two runs and make it a 10-8 ballgame.

The Comeback continued in the ninth as a single and three walks would score a run and load the bases with no outs and the Shepherds down one in the ninth. A single from Shane Poe would tie the game before Brenden Coffindaffer hit another single to give the Sheps the lead as the first six batters in the ninth all reached base.

An error by the catcher allowed two more to score for the Shepherds as they scored nine in the last two innings after being down by six to take the lead and keep their season alive as they would go on to finish out the win.

The Shepherds look to advance to the next round tomorrow against the number one seed Ventura county Pirates at Cal Poly Pomona with first pitch coming at 6 PM.
