Sheps Comeback falls just short

BOX SCORE

The So-Cal Shepherds fell to the Inland Valley Bucs by the score of 11-10 on Sunday. A game that was once 11-0, the Shepherds fought all the way back scoring 10 unanswered but falling just short in the last inning to move their record to 9-9 on the season.

Brenden Coffindaffer would continue to have a hot week as he goes 3-4 and has Seven hits in his last 11 at bats including three extra base hits, two runs and two RBIs.

The Inland Valley Bucs got the scoring started in the top of the first with a bases loaded double that cleared the bases and scored three before another double would score another run and make it 4-0 before the Sheps had a chance to bat.

The Bucs would pour on to their lead in the third with a double and an RBI single before a two-run homerun to drive in three in the inning and extend their lead to seven.

Another RBI single and a three run home run for the bucs would extend their lead and make it 11 scored for the bucs in the first five innings.

The Sheps would get on the board in the bottom half of the fifth after a lead-off double from Andrew White came around to score after a wild pitch and a fielder's choice to make it 11-1.

The Sheps would not go out without a fight as they continued to cut the deficit down in the next inning. After three singles, a walk and three doubles from Shane Poe, Brenden Coffindaffer then Drew Salyers, the Shepherds scored five runs before the Bucs were able to record the first out in the bottom of the sixth.

A single from Raul Soto Romero and a sacrifice fly from Sam Rudd helped the Sheps score two more before the inning was over and they scored seven in the inning and cut the deficit down to three to make it 11-8 going into the seventh.

The Shepherds continued to climb their way back as doubles from Alex Laureano and Raul Soto Romero scored another and cut the lead down that was once 11 down to two as they entered the last inning down 11-9.

Aaron Zubiate led the bottom of the ninth off with a lead-off homer off the top of the wall to bring the Shepherds within one.

The comeback would fall just short as the next three batters were retired as the Bucs were able to squeeze by with the win.
