Sheps beat Dodgers 7-2, win 5 of last 6!

BOX SCORE

The So-Cal Shepherds beat the East LA Dodgers by the score of 7-2 on Sunday moving them to 9-6 on the season. For the Sheps, this is their fifth win in six games, turning it around after their four game losing streak in late June.

The Sheps would strike first in the bottom half of the first as Aaron Zubiate scored from third on a Wild Pitch before the East LA Dodgers would get out of the threat with an inning ending double play.

A leadoff walk in the second came around to score for the Sheps after a throw from the Dodger shortstop got by the first baseman to make it 2-0.

The Sheps would extend their lead with three in the third as they scored in each of their first three innings. It started with a lead off single and a walk for the Sheps before Shane Poe cleared the bases and scored two with a double.

Brenden Coffindaffer was able to hit a sacrifice fly to bring in another and make it 5-0 before the Dodgers were able to get out of the inning.

The Dodgers were able to get one back in the fourth but the Sheps were cruising towards the win as six different pitchers came in and gave up two runs on two hits and struck out eleven as a group.

The Shepherds would add on in the bottom of the eighth with a Raul Soto Romero two-RBI single to give closer Cameron Kelly some insurance runs heading into the ninth. Kelly would give up one run to the Dodgers before earning the 7-2  victory for the Sheps.

The Shepherds will look to continue their winning ways with a double header against the Arroyo seco sentinels after the all star break on July 16th at Jackie Robinson Park.
